They currently play in the top football league in Uruguay, called the Uruguayan Primera División. Boston River also has a team that plays in the first division of the futsal league. Futsal is a type of indoor football.

About Boston River

The club's name has an interesting story. It comes from a tailor shop owned by the club's founder. This shop was called "Sastrería Boston". The "River" part of the name comes from a famous Argentine football team, River Plate. So, the name combines a local business with a well-known football club.
