What Does the Plum Mango Tree Look Like?
The plum mango tree can grow quite tall, reaching 10 to 20 meters (about 33 to 66 feet) high. It has a short, thick lower trunk and a full, round top of branches.
Its leaves are smooth and feel like leather. They are oval-shaped and measure about 3 to 15 centimeters (1 to 6 inches) long and 1.5 to 5 centimeters (0.6 to 2 inches) wide.
The tree produces clusters of small flowers. These flowers are white to light yellow. They grow where the leaves meet the stem.
The fruits are round or oval, like small plums. They are 1.5 to 2.5 centimeters (0.6 to 1 inch) long and 1 to 2.5 centimeters (0.4 to 1 inch) wide. When they are ripe, they change color from yellow to orange or red. Inside each fruit is a single seed. This seed is about 1 to 1.5 centimeters (0.4 to 0.6 inches) long. It has a fibrous outer layer and purple insides.
Where Does the Plum Mango Grow?
The plum mango tree is found in many countries. It grows from Myanmar and Indochina all the way to the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Borneo, and Sulawesi.
You can find these trees in different types of forests. They grow in lowland forests where many tall trees are found. They also grow near coasts and in swampy areas. These trees can be found up to 700 meters (about 2,300 feet) above sea level. People also plant and grow them in many places.
