Great Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in Waterdown, Ontario. It is also known by other names like Grindstone Falls, Waterdown Falls, and Smokey Hollow Falls. This waterfall is about 10-metre-high (33 ft) and 5-metre-wide (16 ft). It's called a "ribbon" waterfall because it's much taller than it is wide, making the water fall in a narrow strip.

The water for Great Falls comes from Grindstone Creek. This waterfall is so pretty that it has even been featured on postcards about the waterfalls in Hamilton, Ontario. You can see Great Falls from the famous Bruce Trail, a long hiking path that stretches across Ontario.

Finding Great Falls

Great Falls is easy to visit because it's right next to a parking lot. If you are driving on Highway 403, take exit 78 for Waterdown Road. Drive about 2.4 kilometers (which is about 1.5 miles) until you reach an area called Smoky Hollow. Before you go under a railway bridge, you will see the Smokey Hollow Resource Management Area parking lot on your left side. The waterfall is right there!
