Boxer is a main character from the famous book Animal Farm by George Orwell. He is a very tall and strong horse, standing nearly eighteen hands high (which is about 6 feet or 1.8 meters). In the story, he is as strong as two horses working together. Boxer has a white stripe down his nose, which gives him a unique look.
Despite his simple nature, Boxer was highly respected by all the animals on the farm. They admired his incredible strength and his kind character. He works hard as a cart-horse, pulling heavy loads, just like his friend Clover. Even Benjamin, a wise old donkey, secretly cares for Boxer.

Boxer's Role in Animal Farm
Boxer is known for his incredible dedication and hard work. He always tries his best for the farm. He believes in the revolution and the idea of animals running their own farm. Boxer is a very loyal and caring friend to the other animals.
Boxer's Loyalty and Hard Work
Boxer is perhaps the most hard-working animal on the farm. He always wakes up early to start his tasks. He often takes on extra work, believing that if he works harder, the farm will be more successful. His main slogans are:
- "I will always work harder."
- "Napoleon's always right."
These slogans show his strong loyalty and his simple trust in the leaders, especially Napoleon.
Boxer's Fate
Boxer faces a sad end in the story. While pulling a cart full of heavy rocks from the quarry (a place where stone is dug out), he falls and gets badly hurt. Napoleon says he will send Boxer to a veterinarian for treatment.
However, Squealer, Napoleon's spokesman, later claims that Boxer died peacefully. But Benjamin realizes the truth: Boxer was actually sent to a "knacker's." This is a place where old or sick animals are taken, often to be killed. This event shows the harsh reality of the farm's new leadership.
Boxer's Character and Symbolism
Boxer is a very loyal and caring character. However, he is also quite naive and doesn't always understand the true meaning behind events. He trusts his leaders completely, even when they make decisions that are not good for the animals.
Boxer often represents the loyal and hard-working people in a society. He shows how people can be dedicated to a cause, even if they don't fully understand the politics behind it. His hard work and eventual fate are important parts of the story's message.
