Napoleon (Animal Farm) facts for kids

Napoleon is a main character and the bad guy, also known as the antagonist, in George Orwell's 1945 book Animal Farm. At first, he is just a regular farm pig. Napoleon in Animal Farm is based on a real person from history, Joseph Stalin. Stalin was a very strict ruler of Russia. Just like Stalin, Napoleon takes complete control and rules with a strong hand. He makes sure no one can question his power.

Napoleon's name also comes from Napoleon Bonaparte, a famous French leader. Bonaparte was known for conquering many lands. This name choice shows that the character Napoleon also wants to control everything.
