The Boyer South River (in French: rivière Boyer Sud) is a smaller river that flows into the Boyer River. The Boyer River then flows into the mighty St. Lawrence River on its south side. This river is located in Quebec, Canada.

The Boyer South River passes through several towns. These include Honfleur, Saint-Gervais, Saint-Henri, and Saint-Charles-de-Bellechasse. It is part of the Bellechasse Regional County Municipality in the Chaudière-Appalaches region.

Where Does the Boyer South River Flow?

Understanding where a river flows helps us learn about its watershed. A watershed is an area of land where all the water drains into a single river or lake.

The main areas around the Boyer South River are:

The River's Beginning: Its Source

The Boyer South River starts in an agricultural area. This is on the north side of the village of Honfleur. It begins between two roads, the 3rd rang East road and the "la Petite 3e" path.

The River's Journey: Its Path

From where it starts, the Boyer South River flows for about 14.5 kilometres (9.0 mi) (about 9 miles). As it flows, the land drops by 132 metres (433 ft) (about 433 feet).

Here's a look at its journey:

  • It flows north for 1.4 kilometres (0.87 mi) through Honfleur. This takes it to the border of Saint-Gervais.
  • Next, it goes north for 1.7 kilometres (1.1 mi) to a road called chemin du 2e rang West.
  • Then, it turns west and northwest for 2.4 kilometres (1.5 mi). It reaches chemin du 1er rang West.
  • It continues westward for 2.5 kilometres (1.6 mi). This brings it to the border between Saint-Gervais and Saint-Henri.
  • After that, it flows north for 2.0 kilometres (1.2 mi) to Chemin de la Grande-Grillade.
  • It then moves northeast for 2.9 kilometres (1.8 mi). This path leads to Chemin Saint-Félix, which is the boundary between Saint-Henri and Saint-Charles-de-Bellechasse.
  • Finally, it flows northeast for 1.6 kilometres (0.99 mi). This is where it meets the Boyer North River. When these two rivers meet, they form the main Boyer River.

The River's End: Its Confluence

The Boyer South River joins the Boyer North River in Saint-Charles-de-Bellechasse. This meeting point is about 5.6 kilometres (3.5 mi) west of Saint-Gervais. It's also 5.1 kilometres (3.2 mi) south of Saint-Charles-de-Bellechasse and 8.6 kilometres (5.3 mi) east of Saint-Henri.
