Brandon DiAundre Rutley, born on April 9, 1989, is a former professional football player. He was a talented running back in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played for teams like the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Montreal Alouettes, and BC Lions. Before turning pro, he played college football at San Jose State University.

Early Life and High School
Brandon grew up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and later moved to Martinez, California. He went to Alhambra High School, graduating in 2007. At Alhambra, Brandon was a star athlete. He was an all-league running back for the football team. He also showed his athletic skills on the basketball and track teams.
College Football Career
Brandon Rutley attended San Jose State University. He joined the San Jose State Spartans football team in 2008. In his first year, he played in all 12 games. He ran for 356 yards and scored 3 touchdowns. One of his most exciting plays was a 60-yard run against a highly ranked team, Boise State.
In 2009, Brandon played 10 games. His performance improved significantly in 2010. He played all 12 games and ran for 461 yards, scoring 4 touchdowns. He was known for his ability to break away from defenders. He also caught 17 passes for 183 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown catch.
His senior year in 2011 was his best. He was named second-team All-Western Athletic Conference. He played 11 games, rushing for 903 yards and scoring 12 touchdowns. He had impressive long touchdown runs of 66 yards and 65 yards. Brandon also caught 27 passes for 336 yards. He graduated from San Jose State in May 2012 with a degree in communication studies.
Professional Football Journey
After college, Brandon tried out for the Oakland Raiders in the NFL. He then moved on to play in the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Brandon signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in August 2012. He played briefly before being placed on injured reserve. He was later released by the team in November 2012.
Montreal Alouettes
In June 2014, Brandon joined the Montreal Alouettes. He was released later that year but re-signed to their practice team in September. He was promoted to the main roster in November 2014. In February 2015, he signed a two-year contract extension with the Alouettes.
Brandon became a key backup running back for the Alouettes. In the 2015 season, he ran for 454 yards. In the 2016 season, he gained 495 yards. He signed another two-year contract in 2017. In the 2017 season, he rushed for 291 yards in five games.
BC Lions
On January 15, 2018, Brandon was traded to the BC Lions. He continued his career with them for a few seasons. Brandon Rutley officially announced his retirement from football on February 26, 2021.
