Where the River Flows
The Bras du Coco starts at a lake called Lac Croche. This lake is about 1.9 km (1.2 mi) long. It sits high up, at an altitude of 357 m (1,171 ft). Lac Croche is located near the town of Ferland-et-Boilleau.
From its source, the Bras du Coco flows for about 11.8 km (7.3 mi). As it flows, it drops about 127 m (417 ft) in height. Most of its journey is through forested areas. Along the way, it passes through some marshy areas and is joined by water from smaller lakes like Petit lac Pacifique, Lac Jerry, and Lac des Belles Filles.
The river generally flows northwest. It eventually joins the Rivière à Mars. This meeting point is located in the Lac-Ministuk area.
The River's Journey to the Sea
Once the Bras du Coco joins the Rivière à Mars, its water continues on a longer journey. The Rivière à Mars flows for about 23.0 km (14.3 mi) to the north. It then empties into the Baie des Ha! Ha!.
The water then crosses the Baie des Ha! Ha! for about 11.0 km (6.8 mi). After that, it enters the Saguenay River. The Saguenay River carries the water for another 99.5 km (61.8 mi) to the east. Finally, the water reaches Tadoussac, where the Saguenay River meets the Saint Lawrence estuary. From there, the water flows out to the Atlantic Ocean.
