Bremner is a planned new community in Alberta, Canada. It will be a part of Strathcona County. This area is being developed for people to live and work.

Where is Bremner?

Bremner is located in central Alberta. It sits north of Highway 16. This highway is also known as the Yellowhead Highway. It is also east of Highway 21.

The community is right next to Sherwood Park. It is about 25 kilometers (15 miles) east of downtown Edmonton. Fort Saskatchewan is 14 kilometers (9 miles) north. Ardrossan is 7 kilometers (4 miles) southeast.

Bremner's Borders

The planned edges of Bremner are clear. Highway 21 is to the west. Highway 16 forms the southern border. Range Road 222 is on the east side. This road becomes Highway 824 further south. Pointe-Aux-Pins Creek marks the northern boundary.

What are the Plans for Bremner?

Strathcona County Council chose Bremner on March 22, 2016. They picked it to be their next big urban community. It was chosen over another area called Colchester.

Bremner is expected to grow quite a bit. It is planned to have 54,000 residents. It will also create 9,800 jobs. This full development is expected to happen by the year 2054.

There's also a chance for Bremner to get even bigger. Lands north of Pointe-Aux-Pins Creek could be used. These areas are south of Township Road 540. This means Bremner could expand more in the future.

Why is Bremner Being Built?

Choosing Bremner as a new growth area is important. It allows for more detailed planning. This planning happens before building starts. The nearby community of Sherwood Park is almost full. Its development is expected to be complete by 2026. So, Bremner will provide new space for people and businesses.
