Club Career

Playing Football for Clubs

College Days

Brent Sancho was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. When he was younger, he played football for St. John's University in New York City. He was part of the team that won a big national championship in 1996.

Playing in Europe and the USA

After college, Brent played for different clubs. In 1999, he played in Finland for MYPA and Tervarit. Later, he joined Dundee in Scotland for the 2003–04 season. After playing well in the Scottish Premier League, he moved to Gillingham in England.

In December 2007, Sancho joined Millwall for a short time. He then signed with Ross County in Scotland in March 2008.

Back in the United States

In August 2008, Sancho returned to the USA. He joined the Atlanta Silverbacks and played in eight matches. On February 26, 2009, the Rochester Rhinos announced that they had signed Sancho for two years.

International Career

Playing for Trinidad and Tobago

Brent Sancho played for the Trinidad and Tobago national football team. He was part of the team that went to the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. He played in all three matches for Trinidad and Tobago in that tournament. This made him the first player from Gillingham to play in a World Cup.

In their third match against Paraguay, he accidentally scored a goal for the other team (an own goal). This game confirmed that Trinidad and Tobago would not move forward in the tournament.

Dispute with the Football Federation

On October 9, 2006, Sancho and 12 other players announced they would no longer play for the national team. This happened because of a disagreement with the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation. The players felt they were not paid fairly for playing in the World Cup.

The issue went to court in the United Kingdom, and the court decided that the players were right. Some players later returned to the national team, but Brent Sancho did not play for Trinidad and Tobago after the 2006 World Cup.
