Bria Nicole Hartley (born September 30, 1992) is a French-American professional basketball player. She plays for the Connecticut Sun in the WNBA and for Galatasaray in the Turkish Super League.

She was the seventh player chosen in the 2014 WNBA draft by the Seattle Storm. She was then traded to the Washington Mystics. In college, Hartley was a shooting guard for the famous UConn Huskies. She helped her team win back-to-back national championships in 2013 and 2014.

Early Life and High School

Bria Hartley is the daughter of Dennis and Simone Hartley. She started playing basketball when she was very young. She often played against her two older brothers in her driveway. She said that playing against them made her a tougher player.

Hartley went to North Babylon High School in New York. She was so good that she joined the main team as an eighth grader. As a senior, she averaged 30 points per game. She was named New York's Gatorade Player of the Year and New York Miss Basketball. By the time she graduated, she had scored 1,978 points, the most in her school's history.

Hartley was chosen to play in the McDonald's All-American Game, a special game for the best high school players in the country. She scored 17 points in that game. Before her last year of high school, she decided she would play for the University of Connecticut.

College Career at UConn

Hartley had an amazing four years playing for the UConn Huskies, one of the best college basketball teams in the country.

First and Second Years

As a freshman, Hartley had to step up when another player got injured. She started every game and played more minutes than any freshman in UConn history. She was named the Big East Freshman of the Year.

In her second year, she got even better. She averaged 14 points per game and was named to the first-team All-Big East. Her great performance earned her a spot on the Huskies' "Wall of Fame."

Championship Years

In her junior year, Hartley dealt with an ankle injury, which affected her playing. But she came back strong during the NCAA tournament. She helped her team win the National Championship.

As a senior, Hartley was a team leader. She averaged over 16 points per game. The Huskies had a perfect 40-0 season and won their second national championship in a row. During her four years, her team had a record of 144 wins and only 11 losses.

Hartley is one of only two UConn players, along with the famous Maya Moore, to have over 1,500 points, 500 rebounds, 500 assists, and 200 steals in her career.
