Brian David Outram Anderson is a very important Australian scientist. He was born on January 15, 1941. He is a professor at the Australian National University. Professor Anderson studies how different systems work together. This includes things like electrical circuits and how signals are processed.
He also works on how groups of robots or computer programs can work together. This is called "distributed control of multi-agent systems." He also studies how to find the exact location of sensors in a network. From 1998 to 2002, Professor Anderson was the President of the Australian Academy of Science. This is a big honor for a scientist in Australia.
In 2002, he became a member of the National Academy of Engineering in the USA. This was because of his important work in system and control theory. He also helped promote engineering science and technology around the world. Brian is married to Dianne Anderson. They live in Canberra, Australia.
Brian's Education
Brian Anderson went to the University of Sydney in Australia. He earned two degrees there. In 1962, he got a Bachelor of Science (BS) in mathematics. In 1964, he earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in electrical engineering.
After that, he went to Stanford University in the United States. He completed his PhD in electrical engineering in 1966. His teacher there was Robert W. Newcomb.
