Brian King (born October 13, 1942 – died April 16, 2017) was a famous Irish sculptor. He created amazing large sculptures, often made from metal. His art was usually abstract, meaning it didn't show real objects, and minimalist, using simple shapes. He also made art that worked with nature, called environmental art and land art.
Brian King's Early Life

Brian King was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1942. He loved art and studied at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) in Dublin. He finished his studies there in 1963.
His Amazing Art Career



Brian King showed his art at the Irish Exhibition of Living Art for many years. He also represented Ireland at a big art show called the Paris Biennale in 1969 and 1983. In 1969, he won a major prize there!
His early sculptures were very simple and clean, a style called minimalist. People even compared his art to the music of J. S. Bach because it was so well-structured.
From 1984 to 2004, Brian King taught art at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD). He created many large sculptures that you can see in public places all around Ireland.
About His Life
Brian King sadly had health problems because of working with certain materials like resin without enough protection. He passed away in 2017.
