Patrick Brian Warfield was born on April 2, 1946, in Dublin, Ireland. He is a talented singer, musician, and songwriter. Brian is a founding member of the famous Irish band The Wolfe Tones. In the band, he plays the banjo, harp, and bodhrán, and he often introduces songs at their live concerts. He is also very interested in history.

Brian's Life Story

Brian Warfield grew up in a part of Dublin called Inchicore. He was the second of four brothers. Today, Brian is married to June Warfield and they live in Blessington, County Wicklow.

In 2019, Brian had a health issue that was first thought to be Parkinson's disease. Later, doctors found it was actually something called essential tremor, which causes shaking. Even with this, he continued to perform in 2023 and kept making new music.

Brian's Music Career

Brian Warfield has written many popular songs for The Wolfe Tones. Some of his well-known songs include "The Helicopter Song," "Irish Eyes," and "My Heart is in Ireland."

Songs for Irish Singers

He wrote a song called "Let the People Sing." This song was made to honor Irish ballad singers who were sometimes not allowed to sing Irish songs. Many other Celtic and Irish Rebel bands have performed it. Fans of Celtic F.C., a football club, also love this song. A version of it is even played at their stadium, Celtic Park, on match days.

Celtic Symphony Song

Because Brian supports Celtic Football Club, he was asked to write a song for their 100th anniversary. This led to him writing Celtic Symphony. This song is very popular with many Celtic fans. It has a chorus that includes the words "ooh, ah, up the RA." Brian Warfield explained that he included these words to show what was happening at the time, following a tradition in ballads. He is also a big fan of Everton Football Club.

Songs About Ireland

As a songwriter, Brian often writes about Ireland and its challenges. For example, in 2012, he wrote a funny song called 'Swing A Banker' for the album Child of Destiny. This song jokingly compares Irish bankers to chickens. The music video for this song was filmed outside the Treasury Building in Dublin. Brian has also worked on a musical about the Irish famine. He continues to tour with The Wolfe Tones alongside Tommy Byrne and Noel Nagle.
