Briarcliff is situated about 30 miles (48 kilometers) west of Austin, a major city in Texas. It's also just over 6 miles (10 kilometers) west of Lakeway.
The village covers a total area of about 1.73 square miles (4.49 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, but a small part, about 0.09 square miles (0.23 square kilometers), is water. This water area includes access to Lake Travis, a large lake popular for outdoor activities. You can reach Cat Hollow, a part of Lake Travis, by boat from a marina.
