Brioche Dorée is a popular French chain of bakery-café restaurants. It started in 1976 in a city called Brest, France. The company was created by Louis Le Duff, who is also the head of a bigger company called Groupe Le Duff. The name "Brioche Dorée" means "Golden Brioche" in French.
This company serves over 270,000 customers every day. They have 443 locations all around the world. Most of these locations are in France. Many of their restaurants outside France are found inside airports and train stations. About 60% of their restaurants are run by other people through a system called franchising.
In 2013, a survey in France showed that Brioche Dorée was very popular. It was ranked second among 17 fast-food chains. Another bakery chain called Paul was ranked first.
The Story of Brioche Dorée
Louis Le Duff opened the very first Brioche Dorée restaurant in 1976. He started it in Brest, France. He used about €1,500 of his own money to begin. He wanted to create a "French-style" fast food place. This idea came from his trips to the United States.
The company grew and started offering franchises in 1992. This meant other people could open their own Brioche Dorée restaurants. They would follow the company's rules and use its name.
