History of Brock
Early Settlers and Community Beginnings
Brock's story began with the Maddux family. James Monroe Maddux and Sarah Naomi Maddux moved to the area in 1876. They had 12 children and were very religious. They quickly saw the need for a church and a school in their new home.
On February 7, 1880, James and Sarah Maddux donated land. This land was used for churches, a cemetery, and a school. This helped the community grow and become a real place.
How Brock Got Its Name
Another important early settler was John Henry Brock. He bought land nearby in 1876. His wife, Polly Brock, ran the local post office. Back then, the area was called Olive Branch.
Mail for many surrounding communities came to Mrs. Brock. People would say mail was going to "Brock" for short. Because of her important role, the name Olive Branch was later changed to Brock. This was done to honor Mrs. Polly Brock, the postmistress.
By 1892, Brock had several businesses, a post office, and a school. In November 2016, local voters decided to officially make Brock an incorporated town. This means it became its own legal town with its own local government. Around the same time, the nearby city of Weatherford looked into adding some land near Brock to their city.

Championship Sports Teams
Brock has an amazing history in sports. On March 2, 2002, the Brock Lady Eagles basketball team won their first state championship. This was a huge moment for the school! The very next week, the Brock Eagle boys' basketball team also won the state championship.
In 2003, both teams moved up to a higher competition class. They both won the state championship again! This was a rare achievement, as it hadn't happened since 1956. Since then, the Lady Eagles have won eight basketball state titles. The boys' team has won three state titles.
Brock's success isn't just in basketball. The school has won state championships in many other sports too. These include baseball, volleyball, golf, tennis, track, and even football. The football team won a state championship in 2015, only three years after the sport was added.
The UIL Lone Star Cup
Brock has also won the UIL Lone Star Cup six times. This award is given to the best school in the state for both academics and athletics in its classification. It shows that Brock schools are great at helping students succeed in many areas.
