History of Brodhead
Brodhead started as a simple stop for travelers. It was once a place called Stigalls Station. This was a spot where stagecoaches would stop. It also had stables for people who moved livestock, known as "drovers."
In early 1868, the Louisville and Nashville Railroad built a train line through the area. A train station was then set up at Stigalls Station. That's when the town got its new name, Brodhead. People believe the town was named after the person who built the railroad line there. Another idea is that it was named after Richard Brodhead, who was a U.S. senator from Pennsylvania.
