Brooklyn is a small residential area in Tasmania, Australia. It's part of the Burnie region. This suburb is located about 3 kilometers (2 miles) south of the main town of Burnie. In 2016, a count showed that 553 people lived in Brooklyn. It sits to the south-east of Burnie's town center.

Brooklyn's Past
Brooklyn became an official locality in 1965. This means it was formally recognized as a distinct place.
Post Office History
A post office called "Brookville Post Office" first opened in 1953. In 1968, its name was changed to "Brooklyn". However, it closed down a few years later in 1973.
Where is Brooklyn?
Brooklyn is surrounded by natural waterways. Alexander Creek forms most of its western border. Romaine Creek makes up much of its eastern and northern boundaries.
Getting Around Brooklyn
If you're traveling by road, Route B18 (Mount Street) runs along the western side of Brooklyn. From there, you can use Roslyn Avenue to enter the area from the south. Brooklyn Road provides access from the north.
Schools in Brooklyn
Brooklyn used to have its own school, Brooklyn Primary School. This school operated until 2009.
New School for the Area
After 2009, Brooklyn Primary School joined with Upper Burnie and Acton Primary School. A brand new school, Romaine Park Primary, was built. It was constructed on the grounds of Parklands High School. The old Acton Primary School building is now used as the Burnie Child and Family Centre.
