Brownfield is a small community, known as a hamlet, located in central Alberta, Canada. It is part of the County of Paintearth No. 18.
Brownfield is about 25 kilometers (15 miles) north of Highway 12. It is also about 122 kilometers (76 miles) southeast of Camrose. You can find it near the Battle River and right along Highway 872. The community was named in 1907 after Charles D. Brownfield. He was the first person to run the local Post Office.

How Many People Live in Brownfield?
In 1991, Statistics Canada counted the people living in Brownfield. The population was 27 people.
Learning and Books
Brownfield has its own school, the Brownfield Community School. This school is part of the Clearview School Division No. 71. Students can attend programs from Pre-School all the way up to Grade Nine. After Grade Nine, students travel by bus to Coronation, Alberta for high school.
The school building also hosts the Brownfield Public Library. This library is a member of the Parkland Regional Library System. It offers books and resources for everyone in the community.
Fun Things to Do in Brownfield
Brownfield has a great place for activities called the Brownfield Recreation Centre. It has two curling rinks, a snack area, and a bar. There's also a space for floor curling or dancing, and a stage with a sound system. Outside, you'll find a small ice rink for skating and a skate shack. This center is used for many events. These include curling games, weddings, community meals like the annual turkey supper, and family reunions.
The Brownfield Community School also has a small gym. It's used by the local Junior High sports teams, known as the Brownfield Bobcats. They play sports like basketball and volleyball. The gym is also used for youth group nights, school concerts, and fitness groups. On the school grounds, there are two playgrounds and swings. You can also find a sand volleyball court and a cement basketball court. There's a rough soccer field and two baseball backstops for playing ball.
A few miles north, in the Battle River Valley, is Burma Park. This park is run by the County of Paintearth. It has three baseball fields, with two having special shale surfaces and dugouts. Burma Park is also a campground. It offers many spots for RVs and tents.
The area around Brownfield, especially the Battle River Valley, is full of wildlife. It's a popular spot for hunting during different seasons. There are two hunting lodges nearby: Battle River Lodge and King West Outfitters.

Summers are generally warm, with average high temperatures in July reaching around 24.4 degrees Celsius (75.9 degrees Fahrenheit). The area gets a moderate amount of precipitation, with more rain in the summer months and more snow in the winter.
