Bruce Edward Alexander, born on September 17, 1965, is a former American football player. He played as a cornerback for five seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Bruce was part of two famous teams: the Detroit Lions and the Miami Dolphins. Before joining the NFL, he played college football at Stephen F. Austin State University.

Early Life and College Days
Bruce Edward Alexander was born in Lufkin, Texas, on September 17, 1965. He grew up and went to high school in his hometown, attending Lufkin High School.
After high school, Bruce went to Stephen F. Austin State University. There, he played college football for the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks. He was a key player for four years, from 1985 to 1988.
Playing in the NFL
Starting with the Detroit Lions
After college, Bruce Alexander was not chosen in the 1989 NFL draft. However, he signed with the Detroit Lions on May 1, 1989. He was released later but joined the team's practice squad.
Bruce was promoted to the main team on November 3, 1989. He played in eight games for the Lions that year. He even started one game. He also returned five kicks for 100 yards.
In 1990, Bruce was placed on injured reserve. He returned to play in one game that season. He signed with the Lions again for the 1991 season. He played in nine games and made one interception. He also played in two playoff games.
Moving to the Miami Dolphins
Bruce Alexander joined the Miami Dolphins on March 26, 1992. He played in the first 12 games of the 1992 season. He started one game and made another interception. He was later placed on injured reserve.
He returned in time for the playoffs and played in two postseason games. In 1993, Bruce played in 14 games for the Dolphins. He recorded one sack and recovered one fumble. After the 1993 season, he became a free agent.
