Bruce Williamson Jr. (born September 28, 1970 – died September 6, 2020) was an American R&B and soul singer. He was known for being a lead singer for the famous music group, The Temptations.

Bruce Williamson's Music Career

Bruce Williamson was very interested in joining the legendary music group, The Temptations, since 1994. His manager, Dave Wallace, helped him meet Ron Tyson, a long-time singer for The Temptations.

Joining The Temptations

Ron Tyson heard Bruce sing and became his mentor. For over ten years, Tyson tried to help Bruce become a member of The Temptations. At first, Otis Williams, a founding member of the group, was unsure. He thought Bruce was "too big and too young." However, Otis Williams eventually agreed, and Bruce joined the group.

Many fans learned about Bruce joining when a former member, G. C. Cameron, announced he was leaving. Bruce once said that he achieved "more in six months of being a Temptation than many artists have done in a lifetime."

Bruce's Work with The Temptations

Bruce Williamson appeared on two of the group's albums: Back to Front and Still Here. He also took part in many public events with The Temptations. This included many concerts and TV appearances. He even had a small role in the movie Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.

In 2015, Bruce left The Temptations. He wanted to record a gospel album. He was replaced by Larry Braggs, who used to sing for the band Tower of Power.

Later, Bruce moved his talent to the famous Las Vegas Strip. There, he was the lead singer for a popular cover and funk band called BlackBerry Jam.

Bruce Williamson's Passing

In August 2020, Bruce Williamson was diagnosed with COVID-19. This happened after he had recovered from gall bladder surgery.

He passed away on September 6, 2020, in Las Vegas. His death was due to problems from COVID-19. At the time of his death, Bruce was working on new R&B and gospel albums. One of these was with his band BlackBerry Jam, titled Send the Rain.
