George Curtis Cameron, often known as G.C. Cameron, is an American soul and R&B singer. He is famous for being the lead singer of the group The Spinners. He sang on their big 1970 hit song "It's a Shame." G.C. Cameron also had his own hit song in 1975 called "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday." People say he has "six different voices" because he can sing in so many styles!

G.C. Cameron and The Spinners
After serving in the Marines, G.C. Cameron joined a music group called The Spinners. They were part of Motown, a very famous record company. Cameron became a lead singer for the group.
He sang the main parts on their first huge hit song, "It's a Shame" in 1970. This song was co-written and produced by the legendary Stevie Wonder. However, the next year, The Spinners left Motown. Cameron decided to stay with Motown to start his solo music career.
Cameron rejoined The Spinners in 2000. This happened after their singer, John Edwards, had a stroke. Cameron sang with The Spinners for several years. He even appeared with them on a PBS music show. On the show, he sang his 1970 hit "It's A Shame." He then left the group again in 2003 to join another famous group, The Temptations.
G.C. Cameron's Solo Career
G.C. Cameron released several songs on his own in the early 1970s. He became known for how well he could sound like other singers. For example, he sounded like Smokey Robinson on his song "(Don't Wanna) Play Pajama Games." He also sounded like Curtis Mayfield on "No Matter Where."
One of his biggest solo hits was "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday." This song was the main theme for the 1975 film Cooley High. Later, a popular group called Boyz II Men also sang a version of this song.
After the 1970s, Cameron left Motown. He began touring as an independent artist, which means he managed his own music. He recorded an album in 1983 for Malaco Records. His career got a new boost in 1989. He made recordings for British record companies like Ardent and Motorcity. He also recorded another solo album called Shadows.
Time with The Temptations
G.C. Cameron joined the famous group The Temptations in 2003. He sang with them for about four years. He left the group in June 2007. He wanted to spend more time focusing on his own solo music.
Recent Music and Appearances
On May 17, 2008, G.C. Cameron made a special appearance. He sang at a benefit concert in Cherry Hill. This concert helped the Hold on to Education Foundation Inc. He was honored for his music and for helping young people.
Later in 2008, he appeared on a PBS TV special. It was called Love Train: The Sound of Philadelphia. On this show, he sang The Spinners' hit song "The Rubberband Man."
In 2008, G.C. Cameron also started working with a reggae band called Dub Nation. They worked on an album together called Rising Force For Change. This album came out in 2012. It included reggae versions of his hits "It's A Shame" and "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday." It also had many new songs. In 2009, Cameron released another album called Enticed Ecstasy.
