Bruno Correa Fernandes Caboclo (born September 21, 1995) is a professional basketball player from Brazil. He plays for Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel. Bruno is a tall player, standing at 6 feet 10 inches (2.08 meters). He plays in the power forward and center positions.

Bruno started his career playing for Pinheiros in Brazil. He was then chosen as the 20th pick in the 2014 NBA draft. After that, he spent seven years playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the United States.

Early Life and Basketball Start

Bruno Caboclo was born in Osasco, Brazil. He grew up in cities like Barueri and Pirapora do Bom Jesus in the state of São Paulo. When he was 13, he began playing basketball at Grêmio Recreativo Barueri. This was a club that invited children from local public schools to play different sports.

In 2013, Bruno went to Score Academy in Raleigh, North Carolina, to train with coach Rafael Franco. He was very tall, with a wingspan of almost 7 feet 7 inches (2.31 meters). Coach Franco taught him to be aggressive and focus on rebounding.

Professional Basketball Journey

Starting in Brazil: Pinheiros (2013–2014)

In April 2013, Bruno Caboclo returned to Brazil. He signed with Pinheiros, a team in the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) league. During the 2013–14 season, he played 17 games. He averaged about 4.8 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.

NBA Years: Toronto Raptors (2014–2018)

On June 26, 2014, the Toronto Raptors picked Bruno Caboclo as the 20th player in the 2014 NBA draft. Some people famously said he was "two years away from being two years away," meaning he needed a lot of time to develop. On July 9, 2014, he officially joined the Raptors.

He played his first NBA game on November 21, 2014, against the Milwaukee Bucks. During his time with the Raptors, he also spent time playing for their minor league team, Raptors 905, in the NBA Development League. In April 2017, Bruno helped Raptors 905 win the D-League Finals. He had a great game in the final, scoring 31 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Moving Teams: Sacramento and G League (2018–2019)

On February 8, 2018, Bruno was traded to the Sacramento Kings. He also played for their G League team, the Reno Bighorns. Later, in August 2018, he signed with the Houston Rockets for training camp. After being waived, he joined the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, another G League team.

Memphis Grizzlies (2019–2020)

On January 24, 2019, Bruno signed a short contract with the Memphis Grizzlies. He later signed a longer contract with them. On March 25, he had his best game, scoring 24 points and getting a "double-double" (scoring double digits in two different stats) against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He also played for the Grizzlies' G League team, the Memphis Hustle.

Houston Rockets (2020–2021)

In February 2020, Bruno was traded back to the Houston Rockets. He played for them until January 2021, when he was waived.

Playing in Europe and Brazil (2021–2022)

After his time in the NBA, Bruno moved to Europe. On February 26, 2021, he signed with Limoges CSP, a team in France. He averaged 10 points and 5 rebounds per game there.

Then, on August 12, 2021, Bruno returned to Brazil. He signed with São Paulo FC in the NBB league. He had a very successful year with São Paulo. He helped them win the 2021–22 BCL Americas championship, which was their first big international title. Bruno was amazing in this tournament, leading in blocks and being second in points and rebounds. He was named the BCL Americas' Most Valuable Player (MVP) and later the MVP of the 2021–22 NBB season.

Recent Seasons (2022–Present)

In November 2022, Bruno joined the Mexico City Capitanes in the NBA G League for a short time. On January 5, 2023, he signed with Ratiopharm Ulm, a team in Germany. He was a key player for Ulm, helping them win the German championship in 2023. He averaged 14.9 points and 6.3 rebounds in the German league.

After his success in Germany, Bruno signed with Umana Reyer Venezia in Italy in June 2023. However, he later signed with the Serbian team Partizan Belgrade on November 7, 2023. He played 27 EuroLeague games for Partizan, averaging 9.4 points and 4 rebounds. In June 2024, Bruno left the team early during the Serbian League playoffs. The team did not win any trophies that season.

On August 30, 2024, Bruno Caboclo signed with Hapoel Tel Aviv B.C. in Israel, where he plays now.

National Team Career

Bruno Caboclo has proudly represented the senior Brazilian national basketball team. He played for Brazil in the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup, the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup, and the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

He also played for Brazil at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. In a game against Japan, he scored an amazing 33 points and grabbed 17 rebounds. This was a historic performance, as he was the first player since 1972 to have more than 30 points and 15 rebounds in an Olympic game!
