Bruno Conti (born 13 March 1955) is a famous Italian football player and manager. He is known for being one of the best Italian players in his position. Today, he leads the youth development program at AS Roma.
Conti played as a winger, which is a player who runs along the sides of the field. He spent almost his entire playing career with Roma. He also had two short loan periods with Genoa. Many people think he is one of Italy's greatest players ever. Fans called him "The Mayor of Rome" because he was so important to the club. He helped Roma win a league title and five Coppa Italia cups.
He was also a key player for the Italian national team. He helped Italy win the 1982 FIFA World Cup. He also played in the 1986 FIFA World Cup.

Early Life and Start in Football
Bruno Conti was born in Nettuno, Italy. He was one of seven children. When he was young, he enjoyed playing baseball. His father, Andrea, worked as a bricklayer.
Conti joined the Roma youth team in 1972. He made his first team debut in 1974, when he was 19 years old. Some scouts had doubted him because of his size. However, he proved them wrong with his talent.
Playing for AS Roma
Conti played most of his career for Roma. He was loaned to Genoa twice, in 1975–76 and 1978–79. During his first loan spell, he helped Genoa win the Serie B title.
At Roma, Conti famously wore the number 7 shirt. He became a very important player on the right side of the field.

- He also won the Coppa Italia five times between 1979 and 1991.

Playing for Italy
Bruno Conti first played for the Italian national team on 11 October 1980. He scored his first goal for Italy a month later. He quickly became a regular player for the team.
Winning the 1982 FIFA World Cup
Conti was a key player for Italy when they won the 1982 FIFA World Cup in Spain. He played in every single match of the tournament. He even scored a goal in Italy's first game against Peru.
In the final against West Germany, Conti was outstanding. He helped create Italy's second goal. He also made a brilliant run down the right side to set up Italy's third goal. Italy won the final 3–1, securing their third World Cup title.
Conti's performances were so good that he was chosen for the tournament's best team. After the World Cup, the legendary player Pelé said he thought Conti was the best player in the tournament.
Later International Career
Conti continued to be an important player for Italy throughout the 1980s. He also played for Italy in the 1986 FIFA World Cup. Italy was knocked out in the round of 16. After this tournament, Conti retired from international football. He played 47 games for Italy and scored 5 goals.
After Playing Football
After retiring as a player, Bruno Conti stayed with Roma. He worked as a coach in the youth sector. In 2005, he became the first team coach for a short time. This happened after the previous coach left.
Conti led Roma to the Coppa Italia final and helped them qualify for the UEFA Cup. His time as caretaker manager ended when Luciano Spalletti became the new coach.
Today, Conti is in charge of Roma's Youth Sector. In August 2023, he even stepped in as acting head coach for one game. This was because the main coach and assistant were suspended.
Conti is so famous that he is featured in the football video game FIFA 14. He is part of the "Classic XI" team, which includes many legendary players.
