Early Life and Sports
Bryanna McCarthy was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her mother came from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Her father was born in Jamaica. Bryanna grew up in Ajax. She loved playing many sports. These included basketball, volleyball, track, soccer, and golf. She trained with her father's personal coach, Karim Corringham.
College Soccer
Bryanna went to West Virginia University. There, she played soccer for the West Virginia Mountaineers team. She played college soccer from 2009 to 2012.
Bryanna's Soccer Career
Playing for Clubs
Bryanna McCarthy played for several soccer clubs. In 2013, she joined the Western New York Flash. This was part of a special player assignment for the NWSL. However, she only played a short time for the Flash.
In 2014, Bryanna signed with the Ottawa Fury. This team was part of the W-League. In 2015, she moved to Germany. She first played for SC Sand in the top German league, the Bundesliga. Later that year, she joined BV Cloppenburg. This team played in the 2. Bundesliga, which is the second division. She played for BV Cloppenburg until 2018.
Playing for Canada
Bryanna also had a great international career playing for Canada.
Youth Teams
She started playing for Canada's youth teams when she was just 14 years old in 2006. In 2008, she won a bronze medal. This was at the CONCACAF Women's Under-17 Championship. The same year, she played for Canada in the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup. This big tournament took place in New Zealand.
Senior Team
In June 2010, Bryanna made her debut for Canada's senior national team. She was only 18 years old. She also played for the Canada U20 team in 2010. They finished fourth at the CONCACAF Under-20 Women's Championship in Guatemala.
In 2011, Bryanna and the Canadian team won the 2011 Cyprus Cup. This was a big achievement. The next year, in 2012, they finished second at the 2012 Cyprus Cup. She played for the senior national team until 2013.
