; born in August 1958) is a Chinese politician. She is from the Mongol ethnic group. From 2016 to 2021, she was the chairwoman of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. This role is similar to being a governor of a province. Bu Xiaolin comes from a family of important leaders. Her father, Buhe, was also a chairman of Inner Mongolia. Her grandfather, Ulanhu, was the first chairman of Inner Mongolia and a Vice President of China.

Early Life and Education

Bu Xiaolin was born in August 1958 in Tumed Left Banner, Inner Mongolia. When she was young, she worked for a short time in the countryside. Later, she joined the People's Liberation Army. From 1977 to 1980, she worked as a medic in a military hospital in Inner Mongolia.

In September 1980, Bu Xiaolin started studying at Peking University. She earned a degree in economic law four years later. After graduating, she taught law briefly at Inner Mongolia University. In 1985, she began working for the government of Inner Mongolia. She continued her studies part-time at Jilin University from 1998 to 2001. There, she earned a special degree in law. From 2003 to 2006, she did advanced research at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

Political Career

Bu Xiaolin's career in government grew steadily. In September 2004, she became the Chief of Alxa League, which is a large area in Inner Mongolia. Two years later, she became the top leader of the Communist Party in that area.

In January 2008, she was promoted to Vice-Chairwoman of Inner Mongolia. This meant she was one of the main leaders of the region. In January 2014, she took on another important role. She became the Head of the United Front Work Department for Inner Mongolia. She also joined the Regional Party Standing Committee, which is a key decision-making group.

On March 30, 2016, Bu Xiaolin was appointed as the acting chairwoman of Inner Mongolia. She took over from Bagatur, who had stepped down. On June 23, her appointment as chairwoman was officially confirmed. This made her the second woman to lead the Inner Mongolia government. She was also the sixth woman in China's history to lead a provincial-level government.

After serving as chairwoman, she took on a new role. On August 20, 2021, she became a vice chairperson. This was for the Environment Protection and Resources Conservation Committee of the National People's Congress. This committee helps make rules about protecting nature and resources in China.

Family Legacy

Bu Xiaolin comes from a very important political family in Inner Mongolia. Her father, Buhe, was a former chairman of Inner Mongolia. Her grandfather, Ulanhu, was even more famous. He was a founding general of China. He also served as the first chairman of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Later, he became a Vice President of the People's Republic of China. This means Bu Xiaolin followed in the footsteps of her father and grandfather in leading Inner Mongolia.
