Jilin University (JLU) is a big public university located in Changchun, Jilin, China. It works closely with the Ministry of Education. Jilin University is also part of special national programs like Project 211, Project 985, and the Double First-Class Construction. These programs help make sure the university is one of the best in China.

Discovering Jilin University's History
Jilin University started way back in 1946 in Harbin, Heilongjiang. It was first called the Northeast College of Administration. Over the years, this university grew by joining with many other colleges and changing its name several times.
How JLU Grew Over Time
In May 1948, the Northeast Administration College joined with Harbin University. It was then renamed the Northeast Academy of Science. Later that year, it moved to Shenyang, Liaoning, and went back to its original name. In 1950, it became known as Northeast People's University. When the Korean War began, the university moved to Changchun, Jilin. Finally, in 1958, it was officially named Jilin University.
Becoming the Jilin University of Today
In 2000, several universities combined to form the Jilin University we know today. These included the original Jilin University, Jilin University of Technology, Norman Bethune University of Medical Sciences, Changchun University of Science and Technology, and Changchun Institute of Posts and Telecommunications. A few years later, in 2004, the University of Military Logistics also joined Jilin University. This helped the university become even bigger and offer more subjects.

Jilin University is a huge place for learning! It has seven campuses spread across six different areas. These campuses are home to 47 colleges. These colleges teach 13 main subjects, including philosophy, economics, law, literature, education, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, military science, and art.
Amazing Research Facilities
The university has many special places for research. These include five state key laboratories, which are top-level research centers. There are also national engineering labs and many other labs supported by the government and different ministries. These facilities help students and professors do important research in many fields.
Programs and Students
Jilin University offers many different study programs. You can find 129 programs for undergraduate students (like a bachelor's degree). There are also 304 programs for Master's degree students and 244 programs for doctoral degree students. Plus, there are 42 centers for students who have finished their doctorate and want to do more research.
