Liaoning facts for kids
Liaoning is a province located in the northeast part of the People's Republic of China. Its capital city is Shenyang. For a period from 1931 to 1945, Japan controlled Liaoning as part of a state called Manchukuo.
Where is Liaoning?
Liaoning province is the most southern part of a region known as Manchuria. This region includes three provinces in China's northeast. Together with the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, they form the entire northeastern area of China.
Liaoning shares its northeast border with Jilin province. It also has a long coastline along the Yellow Sea to its southeast. To the southwest, you will find Hebei province and the capital city of Beijing.
Dalian is a very important port city in Liaoning. It is located at the southern tip of a peninsula. This piece of land extends about 100 kilometers south into the Yellow Sea.
