History of Bucks Lake

The Bucks Lake area started as a ranch in 1850. It was founded by two people named Horace Bucklin and Francis Walker. Later, a hotel and a post office were built there.

In 1928, a big change happened. The Bucks Storage Dam was built on Bucks Creek. This creek flows into the Feather River. Building the dam created the large Bucks Lake reservoir. The new lake actually covered the original spot where the town was located.

A post office for Bucks Lake was open for a short time, from 1940 to 1942. Today, Bucks Lake is recognized as California Historical Landmark #197. This means it's an important historical site in California.
