Buell is a very small community in Montgomery County, Missouri, in the United States. It's known as an "unincorporated community" and a "census-designated place" (CDP). This means it's a recognized area where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.
As of the 2020 census, only 25 people lived in Buell. It is located about 7 miles (11 km) northeast of Montgomery City along Route 161.
History
Buell was officially planned out in 1903. It was named after Buell Hensley, who was a local businessman. A post office opened in Buell in 1904. This post office helped people send and receive mail for many years. It stayed open until 1978.
Geography
Buell covers a very small area. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, it is about 0.09 square miles (0.23 square kilometers) in total. Almost all of this area is land. There is only a tiny amount of water, about 0.001 square miles (0.003 square kilometers).
The community sits on a gentle slope. This slope helps rainwater flow north towards Elkhorn Creek. Elkhorn Creek is part of the Cuivre River system. The Cuivre River then flows east into the big Mississippi River.
