Montgomery City is a city in Montgomery County, Missouri, United States. It is also the county seat, which means it's where the county's government offices are located. In 2020, about 2,811 people lived there.

History of Montgomery City
Montgomery City was first planned out in 1853. It got its name from Montgomery County. A post office opened in the city in 1857.
A special building called the Sylvester Marion and Frances Anne Stephens Baker House was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. This list includes important historical places in the United States.
Geography and Location
Montgomery City is located in the middle of Montgomery County. Two main state highways, Route 19 and Route 161, go through the city. These roads connect Montgomery City to other nearby towns.
The city covers about 3.40 square miles (8.82 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water. The city is built on a small ridge. Water from the ridge flows in two directions:
- Northeast towards Elkhorn Creek, which eventually reaches the Mississippi River.
- Southwest towards Clear Fork, which flows into the Missouri River.
