The Story of Bugs 'n' Daffy
How the Show Started
That's Warner Bros.! first aired on September 11, 1995. It was part of the very first season of Kids' WB. The show's opening used a jazzy version of "Merrily We Roll Along." Each episode usually had three classic cartoons. There was also a short "Hip Clip" shown between the second and third cartoons. This clip helped fill any extra time. Unlike some other shows, not every episode featured a Bugs Bunny cartoon.
Changes and New Cartoons
The next season, the show changed its name to Bugs 'n' Daffy. This brought some new things to the show. A new title sequence was created. It had an original theme song by Randy Rogel, who also worked on Animaniacs. The names of the cartoon staff were no longer shown. Only the cartoon titles appeared with a short musical sound. The cartoons themselves mostly stayed the same.
For the 1997–98 season, 65 new episodes were made. Time Warner had joined with Turner Broadcasting System. This meant Warner Bros. got back the rights to many older color Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons. These were cartoons made before August 1948. At least one of these older cartoons was in each new episode. Because these older shorts were sometimes longer, not every episode had a "Hip Clip."
What Happened Next?
Bugs 'n' Daffy was taken off the main Kids' WB schedule in 1998. However, some local TV stations were still allowed to air the series. They used it as a replacement for Tiny Toon Adventures.
Meet The Daffy Duck Show
On November 23, 1996, a related show started airing. It was called The Daffy Duck Show. This show was on Kids' WB on Saturday mornings. It took the place of the show Freakazoid!. Each episode of The Daffy Duck Show featured two Daffy Duck cartoons. In between them, there was one cartoon featuring another character. A total of 13 episodes of The Daffy Duck Show were created. They aired every week until the 1997–98 season began.
