Bunyola is a charming town and municipality (a type of local government area) on the island of Majorca, Spain. It is located at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains. Bunyola is about 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) away from Palma, the capital city of Majorca.
The municipality covers an area of about 84.7 square kilometers (32.7 square miles). In 2018, around 6,714 people lived there. A special train, the Ferrocarril de Sóller, passes through Bunyola on its way to Palma.
Bunyola is part of the Serra de Tramuntana region. This mountain range is very important. UNESCO has even named it a World Heritage site. This means it has special physical and cultural value.
Bunyola shares its borders with several other towns. These include Palma de Mallorca, Marratxí, Santa Maria del Camí, Alaró, Escorca, Sóller, Deià, and Valldemossa. Smaller areas like Palmayola, Sa Font Seca, and Orient are also part of Bunyola.

The Raixa Estate
A Historic Villa and Gardens
One of the most famous places in Bunyola is the Raixa Estate. This large estate features a beautiful villa built in the Italian style. It is surrounded by amazing gardens. These gardens were designed by Pietro Lazzarini.
Filming Location and Public Access
The Raixa Estate was once used as a filming location. It appeared in the 1982 movie Evil under the Sun. A famous German designer, Jil Sander, used to own the estate. Later, the Island Council of Majorca bought it. The estate was opened to visitors again in late 2018. Now, everyone can explore its historic beauty.
