Burlington Estate facts for kids
The Burlington Estate is a famous area in Mayfair, a part of London, England. It is located north of Piccadilly in the city's West End. This area was built up during the 1700s.
A powerful family called the Boyle dynasty owned the estate. They were also known as the Earls of Burlington. A key person in developing this area was Richard Boyle, who lived from 1694 to 1753.

Burlington House: A Hub of Knowledge
Burlington House is the most important building on the estate. It stands right on Piccadilly. Today, it is home to several important groups that focus on art and science.
These groups include the Royal Academy, which is famous for art. Other groups are the Geological Society of London (for rocks and Earth science), the Linnean Society of London (for plants and animals), and the Royal Astronomical Society (for stars and space). The Society of Antiquaries of London (for history) and the Royal Society of Chemistry (for chemicals) are also there.

Savile Row is famous worldwide for its traditional men's clothing. Tailors here make custom-made suits, which means they are specially fitted for each person. This area has been known for its skilled tailors for a very long time.
A famous person named Beau Brummell (1778–1840) used to visit the tailors here. He was a trendsetter in London during the Regency period. He helped create a fancy style of men's fashion called dandyism.
