History of Burnettsville
Burnettsville was officially started in 1854. It got its name from a nearby stream called Burnetts Stream.
The town also had a post office for many years. It was first opened in 1837 and was known as Burnett's Creek. It closed in 1922.

Burnettsville has a special day each year called Community Day. It happens on the fourth Saturday of September.
This day is full of fun activities for everyone! You can enjoy a Fireman's Breakfast, look for treasures at garage sales, and watch or join in races like the 5K-10K Bee Bumble race. There's even a 1K-Bee Stingers race just for kids!
You can also try Ron's famous Ham and Beans, enjoy a Cake Walk, and visit over 60 different vendors. There's entertainment on a stage all day, plus kids' games, a bounce house, and balloons. The day ends with a parade and a fish fry.
Many of these events happen at the old Burnettsville High School Gym, which people call the "Bee Hive." The school teams used to be called the Burnettsville "Bees." This was before the schools in White County joined together in 1962.
