Adrian felt that the government's offer of $4,000 for each worker was not enough. He believed it was disrespectful to his people. He received 310 votes.

He also once said he would go on a hunger strike. This was to show how important it was for Aboriginal culture to be recognized in Brisbane.

Adrian Burragubba belongs to the Babinburra Clan. This clan is part of the Wangan people from the Wiirdi language group in Central Queensland.

He was born in Brisbane. The traditional owners of the land recognize him as having a historical connection to the area.
