Buruji Kashamu (born May 19, 1958 – died August 8, 2020) was a Nigerian politician. He served as a Senator for Ogun East in Nigeria's 8th National Assembly. A Senator is like a representative who helps make laws for a part of the country.
Ogun East includes many local government areas, such as Ijebu North East, Ijebu North, Ijebu-Ode, and Sagamu. Senator Kashamu also worked as the vice-chairman of the Senate Committee on States and Local Government. This committee helps manage how states and local areas work together.
He was an important member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State. He led the party's organization and mobilization efforts in the South West region of Nigeria. In 2018, he was removed from the PDP, but a court later said this decision was not valid. He ran for governor of Ogun State in 2019 but did not win. He passed away on August 8, 2020, from COVID-19.
