Bush River (Maryland) facts for kids
The Bush River is a special kind of waterway located in Harford County, Maryland. It's an estuary, which means it's a place where fresh water from rivers mixes with salty water from the ocean. Because it's connected to the ocean, the Bush River is also tidal. This means its water levels go up and down with the ocean's tides.
The river stretches about 9 miles (14 km) south from a community called Riverside. It eventually flows into the famous Chesapeake Bay.
Where is the Bush River?
The Bush River is found about 15 miles (24 km) northeast of the large city of Baltimore. It's a very important part of the local environment and ecosystem.
The land area that collects and drains water into the Bush River is called its watershed. This watershed covers a large area of 125 square miles (320 square kilometers). A significant part of this watershed includes the Aberdeen Proving Ground, which is a military facility.
