Buxton is a small, unincorporated community in Washington County, Oregon, United States. It is located near Oregon Route 47. Being "unincorporated" means it doesn't have its own city government, but it's still a recognized place where people live and work.

A Look Back: History of Buxton
The Buxton area was first settled in 1884 by a person named Henry Buxton Jr.. The community was named after his family, including his father, who was also named Henry Buxton and was an early pioneer from 1841.
Early Days and Growth
A post office was opened in Buxton on December 27, 1886. Henry T. Buxton was the very first postmaster, helping to send and receive mail for the community. Buxton was also a stop for trains on the Portland, Astoria & Pacific Railroad. This train station was located above Mendenhall Creek, just east of the community.
Schools and Services
A new school building was finished around 1938, providing a place for local children to learn. In 1954, Buxton joined with nearby communities like Manning and Banks. They formed the Tri-City Rural Fire Protection District, which is now known as the Banks Fire District. This helped keep everyone safe from fires.
The post office in Buxton continued to operate until at least 1976. It had a special code called a ZIP code, which was 97109. The Buxton School, which was part of the Banks School District, closed its doors in 1998. The building was later sold in 2000 to the Banks Christian Academy. In June 2015, Banks Christian Academy also closed the Buxton school. After that, Faith Bible Christian School took over the building.
