Byron Ellis Browne, born on December 27, 1942, is a former American professional baseball player. He was an outfielder in Major League Baseball (MLB). Byron played for several teams, including the Chicago Cubs, Houston Astros, St. Louis Cardinals, and Philadelphia Phillies. His career in MLB lasted from 1965 to 1972. He went to Central High School in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Byron Browne's Early Baseball Days

Byron Browne started his baseball journey when the Pittsburgh Pirates signed him. This happened on September 9, 1962. He was an amateur free agent then. Later, in 1963, the Chicago Cubs chose him from the Pirates in a special draft.

Making His MLB Debut

Byron Browne played his first MLB game for the Cubs on September 9, 1965. He faced a very famous pitcher, Sandy Koufax, in his first time at bat. Koufax later became a Hall of Famer. Byron hit the ball deep into center field. This was during Koufax's perfect game. Byron later grounded out and struck out in that game.

Moving to the Philadelphia Phillies
