Béard-Géovreissiat is a small area in France called a commune. It is located in the Ain department. A commune is like a small town or district with its own local government.
Most of this commune is made up of two main villages: Béard and Géovreissiat. There is also a smaller area called St Germain de Béard. Part of another small area, Croix-Châlon, is also included.
The commune was known only as Géovreissiat until October 2008. Géovreissiat is the main village, and that is where the city hall is located.
In 2009, about 935 people lived in Béard-Géovreissiat. The people who live there are called the Béardais.
Population Changes
The number of people living in Béard-Géovreissiat has changed a lot over time. Between 1841 and 1846, the population dropped quite a bit. It went from 720 people down to 354.
The population continued to decrease until the end of the Second World War. After that, it started to grow again. Today, the number of people living in Béard-Géovreissiat is the highest it has ever been since records began.
