Carl Ray "C. J." Richardson, Jr. was born on June 10, 1972. He is an American former professional football player. C. J. played as a defensive back for teams like the Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks in the National Football League (NFL). Before turning pro, he played college football for the Miami Hurricanes.

C. J. Richardson's Early Life and College Years
C. J. Richardson grew up in Dallas, Texas. He was a talented athlete at H. Grady Spruce High School. There, he played both baseball and football. In 1989 and 1990, he was recognized as an All-State and All-American football player. This means he was one of the best high school players in the country.
Richardson first planned to play both sports at the University of Miami. However, he decided to focus only on football. He played safety for the Hurricanes football team. He played three seasons with the Hurricanes, from 1992 to 1994. In his final year, 1994, he was named an All-American. This is a huge honor for a college player! C. J. earned his college degree in criminal justice in 1995.
C. J. Richardson's Professional Football Career
After college, C. J. Richardson joined the NFL. He played for a few different teams during his professional career.
Playing for the Houston Oilers
The Houston Oilers picked Richardson in the seventh round of the 1995 NFL draft. He was the 211th player chosen overall. The Oilers later released him in August 1995.
Time with the Arizona Cardinals
On November 8, 1995, Richardson signed a contract with the Arizona Cardinals. He played in one game for the Cardinals. This was against the Minnesota Vikings on November 12. The next day, he was placed on injured reserve. This meant he couldn't play for the rest of the season.
Richardson became a free agent in February 1996. He signed with the Cardinals again in March. But he was later released by the team.
Joining the Seattle Seahawks
On June 25, 1996, the Seattle Seahawks picked up Richardson. They claimed him after he was released by another team. He was released by the Seahawks in August. C. J. did not play football during the 1996 season.
On March 5, 1997, Richardson signed with the Seahawks again. He played in 14 games for them during their 1997 season.
C. J. Richardson retired from playing football in 1998. He had several serious arm injuries that led to his retirement.
C. J. Richardson's Life After Football
After his playing career, C. J. Richardson returned to his old high school. He is now the head football coach and athletic coordinator at H. Grady Spruce High School. He helps young athletes learn and grow. C. J. has two children, a son named Carl III and a daughter named Krystal.
