CAE Douala is a special school in Douala, Cameroon, where young people can learn to become pilots, flight attendants, or flight dispatchers. It used to be called Sabena Flight Academy Africa. This school is part of a big Canadian company named CAE. It was the very first school in Cameroon to train people for jobs in civil aviation.
At CAE Douala, students can train to become airline pilots, who fly planes. They can also learn to be flight attendants, who take care of passengers during flights. Another important job taught here is flight dispatcher, which involves planning flights safely.
History of CAE Douala
This school started in 2008. It was founded by Joseph Barla and Jean-Yves Kotto. At first, it was connected to a Belgian school called Sabena Flight Academy. That school had been around since 1953.
Just a few months after CAE Douala opened, the Belgian school, Sabena Flight Academy, joined with CAE. Because of this, CAE Douala also became part of the larger CAE family. It was then renamed CAE Global Academy Douala.
What Equipment Does CAE Douala Use?
The school in Douala has special equipment to help students learn. They have three amazing machines called flight simulators. These simulators are like giant video games that feel just like flying a real plane!
- One simulator is set up like a Boeing 737-800 airplane. This helps future pilots practice flying a big passenger jet.
- Another simulator is like a Diamond DA42 plane. This is a smaller aircraft, good for learning different flying skills.
- The third simulator is used for special training called instrument flight rules. This teaches pilots how to fly using only their instruments, especially when the weather is bad and they can't see outside.
These simulators help students get lots of practice in a safe environment before they ever step into a real cockpit.
