International Association of Aviation Personnel Schools facts for kids

The International Association of Aviation Personnel Schools (IAAPS) is a group of schools around the world that teach people how to become pilots. It started on October 25, 1995. At first, it was called the European Association of Aviation Pilot Schools. In 2009, its name changed to IAAPS to include schools from all over the world, not just Europe.

IAAPS works with important aviation groups like the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). They help make rules for pilot training. The association has 25 member schools. Their main goals are to make pilot training better and to speak for the schools with official groups like the Civil Aviation Authority and EASA. The aircraft company Airbus also helps IAAPS with many things, like organizing meetings.

How IAAPS Started: A Brief History

The European Joint Aviation Authority (JAA) was formed in 1990. This happened after an agreement called the "Cyprus Agreement." In 1995, the European Association of Airline Pilot Schools (EAAPS) was created.

The EAAPS worked to set clear rules for flight training across Europe. This led to the creation of the "Joint Aviation Requirement Flight Crew Licensing Code" (JAR-FCL). This code helped standardize how pilots are trained and licensed. In 2009, the group became worldwide and changed its name to IAAPS.

What IAAPS Aims to Do

There is a growing need for pilots around the world. Members of IAAPS work together to keep pilot training standards high. Good aviation training helps make flying safer for everyone.

The EASA sees IAAPS as a key group for flight training. IAAPS members are part of important EASA committees. These include groups that focus on safety and how people interact with aircraft.

IAAPS also helped create "learning goals" for training pilots to fly airplanes and helicopters. These goals were first shared by the Joint Aviation Authorities. Later, the European Aviation Safety Agency published them.
