What Made the Show Special?
CBS Storybreak was unique because it used "open captions." This means the words appeared right on the screen for everyone to see. Usually, TV shows use "closed captions," which you have to turn on.
- Open captions helped people who couldn't hear well.
- They also let everyone else read along with the story. This made it a great way to enjoy books!
The show was made by companies in Australia and America. These included Southern Star Productions and Hanna-Barbera Australia.
Awards and Reruns
CBS Storybreak was a very good show. It was even nominated for an Emmy Award in 1986. An Emmy is a big award for TV shows.
After its first run, the show was shown again in reruns.
- It aired in reruns until 1988.
- Then, it came back again from 1993 to 1997. During this time, Malcolm-Jamal Warner was the host.
Some episodes of the show were also released on home video in 1992. These videos were called Video Storybreak.
