Bryan Ross, known by his stage name CJ Mac, is an American rapper and actor. He became known for his music in the 1990s and also appeared in films.
Early Life and Beginnings
CJ Mac was born and grew up in Los Angeles, California. He started his music career in the early 1990s.
Music Career Highlights
CJ Mac released his first independent music project, an EP called Color Me Funky, in 1991. At that time, he used the name "CJ Mack."
He returned to the music scene in 1995. That year, he released his second album, True Game, with Rap-A-Lot Records. He worked with a producer named Mad, and they were known as Mad CJ Mac.
In 1999, CJ Mac released his third album, Platinum Game. This album came out through Hoo-Bangin' Records, a label started by fellow rapper Mack 10. Platinum Game featured many different rappers and reached number 77 on the R&B/Hip-hop album charts.
CJ Mac also explored acting. He appeared in the 1999 movie Thicker than Water. In the film, he played a character named Gator alongside actors like Mack 10 and Fat Joe.
Later, in 2003, CJ Mac directed a documentary film called On the C-Walk. He also worked with Death Row Records in the early 2000s.
