Cabaiguán is a town and a special area (called a municipality) in the Sancti Spíritus province of Cuba. It is the third-largest town in its province. Over 42,000 people live in the town itself.
Cabaiguán shares borders with other towns. These include Yaguajay to the north and Taguasco to the east. To the south, it borders Sancti Spíritus, with the Tuinicú River forming part of the boundary. It also borders Fomento to the southwest and Placetas to the west. The municipality covers an area of almost 600 square kilometers.

History of Cabaiguán
Cabaiguán was founded in 1894. It officially became a municipality in 1926.

The municipality is split into smaller areas. These areas are called consejos populares, or "popular councils". The main council is Cabaiguán itself. Other councils include the villages of Neiva, Pedro Barba, Guayos, and Santa Lucía.

In 2022, the Cabaiguán municipality had a total population of 63,981 people. With its area of 597 km2 (231 sq mi), this means about 110/km2 (280/sq mi) people live in each square kilometer. Cabaiguán is known as a place where many people from the Canary Islands moved to Cuba.
What Cabaiguán is Known For
Cabaiguán is famous for its cigars. There is a small factory in the town where different well-known cigar brands are made. The town also has an oil refinery. This refinery was built in 1947. Another important place is the Nieves Morejon quarry. The provincial prison is located there.
Getting Around Cabaiguán
The main highway in Cuba, the Carretera Central, goes right through Cabaiguán. The town is also connected by the A1 motorway. Cabaiguán has a railway station. This station is part of the central train line that connects Havana and Santiago de Cuba.
