Fomento is a town and a special area called a municipality in Cuba. It is located in the Sancti Spíritus Province. The town of Fomento was first started in 1864.
Where is Fomento?
The Fomento municipality is made up of the main town of Fomento and a village called Jíquimas. Fomento town is the main center of the municipality.
Before 1976, two other villages, Juan Bravo and Güinía de Miranda, were part of Fomento. Later, they became part of a new province called Villa Clara. They joined the municipality of Manicaragua at that time.

Famous People from Fomento
Kendrys Morales, a famous baseball player, was born in Fomento. He became an All-Star player in Major League Baseball (MLB). Even though he was born here, he grew up mostly in Havana.
