A Big Bridge Project
The Venezuelan government is currently building a large bridge in Caicara. This bridge will cross the Orinoco River. When it is finished, the bridge will be about 2.4 kilometers (1.5 miles) long. This bridge will help people and goods travel across the river more easily.
Ancient Rock Art
Long ago, a famous explorer named Alexander von Humboldt visited the area. He discovered special carvings on the rocks near the river. These carvings are called petroglyphs. They are ancient artworks made by people who lived there a very long time ago.
These petroglyphs are carved into the hard rock, like granite and gneiss. Later studies found many more of these prehistoric rock carvings in the Caicara area. They tell us about the early history of the region.
When Was It Founded?
Caicara del Orinoco was founded in the middle of the 1700s. This means it has been a town for over 250 years.
